3 Tips For Caring For Your Aluminum Fencing
If you have an aluminum fence, you know that it is a great fence. These types of fences functional well, a very resistant to weathering, and are incredibly durable. However, just like with all other types of fencing, it is very important to make sure that they are well cared for. Here are three tips for caring for your aluminum fencing.
Wash It With Soap And Water
If you notice that your aluminum fencing is looking dirty, then it is a good idea to take the time to wash it down. This process is very simple and involves using soap, water, and a scrubbing brush. You can fill up a bucket with soapy water and use the scrubbing brush to scrub your entire fence. The soap is strong enough to remove the dirt and other built up, but it won’t harm the fence. The scrubbing brush is also stiff enough to remove the build-up, but won’t remove the finish from the fencing. Once the entire fence has been scrubbed down, you can then use your garden hose to wash all the soap off of your fencing. This leaves your fence looking clean and shiny once again.
Use Calcium, Lime, And Rust Cleaner
While aluminum fences are quite durable, they are susceptible to hard water stains. These can occur because of water from the rain, snow, or even your irrigation system. A great way to remove these hard water stains from your fence is to use a calcium, lime, and rust cleaner. A CLR cleaner does an excellent job of removing the hard water build up from your fence, exposing your shiny, aluminum fence underneath.
Oil The Gate Hinges
Your gates may become a bit squeaky and tight overtime, but thankfully this is very easy to fix. All you need to do is add some oil to each of your gate’s hinges. This helps to loosen them up once again and allows your gate to open and close with ease. This is a very quick and cost effective option and one that works perfectly.
